Jul 26,  · The way I see it, the book appears to blend prodigious research with conjecture. It ranges freely over decades and continents, offering a dizzying catalog of vivid characters and horrible acts. Time Zero also has a twitter feed that connects real world events and issues with events that happen in the book and the issues that Mina faces. This is a great way to get a better understanding of world events and current controversies going on today.5/5(1).

In Time Zero, Mina is following very specific rules, such as “don’t speak to boys” and “don’t wear white shoes.” Time Next is based less on rules and more on cultural practices and societal norms, which can at first appear less oppressive than strict rules but are ultimately just as dangerous. The principal device of the Timewave Zero theory is a fractal function (constructed using numerical values derived from the King Wen Sequence of I Ching hexagrams) which maps time onto 'novelty'. This theory was developed by Terence McKenna () from the early s to the late s, and was first described by him in the book The.
